Uncorking Vintage Poems that Stand the Test of Time

Uncorking Vintage Poems that Stand the Test of Time

My poems are like wine

I pour them out

then bottle them up

let them sit in the dark to age

then sometimes years later

uncork and taste them

as reader rather than writer

swill their words around in my mouth

bittersweet or bubbly

simple or complex

with hints of oak or loam

Have they stood the test of time

or are they over blown

do they still ring true or need a tweak

If they pass the test

then it’s time at last

to pull them from the cellar

where they rest

and share them as my very best.
