31010 Build Your Author Platform – Work Session (Oct 10, 11 am PT / 2 pm ET)

Why It Works:

You know you need to reach more readers, but finding time can be a challenge.

Build Your Author Platform is a scheduled time where you can use the healthy pressure of a group setting to focus on your next task. When you give yourself a supportive environment with other people also getting things done, it’s practically impossible to avoid advancing on your goals.

This work session is led by an expert, so you can check in to make sure you won’t be wasting your time.

How It Works:

A session is scheduled every week. Attend each week, or when you can, and work on your author platform goals.

If you already have a strategy, you can execute it during the work session.

If you’re new or unsure, we recommend the book Your First 1000 Copies by Tim Grahl. It is written for authors of books, but even if you don’t plan to write a book, the strategies can be used to bring your work to more readers.

What Is an Author Platform, and Why Should I Build One?

“Author platform” is just a fancy term for “people who know about you and want to read your work.”

If you write just for yourself, you do not need an author platform. But if you want your work to reach readers, it’s time to build your author platform. Join us, and reach more readers!

What Happens During the Work Session?

Expert-led work sessions are hosted by Prolific Writers Life experts. Each live video session lasts one hour. Here’s what you can expect:

Log in 3-5 minutes early. You might want to turn off notifications or have a beverage or snack close at hand. Limit distractions​​ – this is your time to make progress on your goals.

First 5 minutes: Introduce yourself (keep it short!) and share what you plan to work on. Get a bit of expert advice if you need it.

20 minutes: Work on your task.

5 minutes: Check in.

25 minutes: Work on your task.

Closing 5 minutes: Share your progress and commit to your next step.
